"The Captain's Daughter" is a historical story by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, first published in 1836. The author was inspired by the story of Yemelyan Pugachev and the riot that took place in 1773-1775 under his leadership. Pyotr Grinev is in the center of the plot. He tells the story of his service and his acquaintance with Pugachev.
