Imago is an autobiographical novel by Carl Spitteler, a 1919 Nobel Prize winner. Spitteler wrote in German. The novel was first published in 1906. The novel narrates a story of a young writer who came back to a small town, where he previously had met a woman that became his muse. In the story, he finds out that the lady did not wait for him.
