Therese: The Chronicle of a Woman's Life is a novel by Arthur Schnitzler first published in 1928. There are a number of difficulties in the protagonist's life. She has an illegitimate son to provide for. But Therese has absolutely no money for it. She has to live in poverty and date different men. Soon she finds a wealthy entrepreneur, but one incident ruins all her hopes.
